Burning Man 2007 - Ginger Rogers/the Green Woman
This year's Burning Man theme was "The Green Man." (Given how much the event wastes with transportation, burning, and waste, even with sacrifices to the carbon offset marketplace, neo-enviro greenwash won't really fix it.) Our immediate response for making our first ever mutant vehicle was "The Green Woman," which quickly evolved to "Ginger Rogers/The Green Woman." She would dance around the playa to old movie big band dance and swing music (and maybe a bit of Ella), and be a techno free zone. We built her from our recycled deck, on a diesel truck which was modified to run on waste vegetable oil (NOT bio-diesel); your french fries died so that she could dance. We served Ginger Rogers, a tasty and refreshing beverage (gin, ginger syrup, mint syrup {instead of muddled mint because it would generate moop}, lemon juice, lime juice, ginger ale, enough blue food coloring to make it a yucky green, AND playa dust).
